Durango V6 No start No spark
Retired friend of mine has a 1999 Durango with a V6. He said it quit on the road. He got it back home and into his garage. I'm assuming it was towed home. It won't start.
He said that he replaced the wires, distributor cap, rotor, and coil. Still no start. That's where I came in.
I pulled one of the plug wires off and hooked a grounded plug up to it. Had him crank the engine. No spark. Same with the secondary lead going from the coil to the center terminal of the cap. I hooked my test light up to primary wires on the coil by backprobing. With key on, the light lights up when the test light is connected between either wire and ground. When cranking the light does not flash. Since the coil is not being switched on or off, I assumed either hall effect switch, module, or wiring between these components. I recommended that he ohm out his hall effect and if defective, replace it. He didn't have a DVOM, so he just bought a new hall effect. Still no start.
I also noticed yesterday that I didn't hear the fuel pump come on.
I don't usually work on Mopars, but would like to help this guy out without breaking the bank. Any suggestions on where to go next?
Thanks!
Rob

First of all I can't understand and follow what you are even talking about. You use terminology that would twist the mind of Albert Einstein!
With that said, I would check the key switch and current to the fuel pump (not just the sound) and I would replace the Crank Shaft sensor.

It was made in 1999 only!
It is a 3.9L V6 engine but they were not very popular so they discontinued.
