Oil usage
Hi,
I think I have a problem with high oil consumption. It's a '98 5.9 with 255.000km that uses at the moment more than 2 quarts of oil (10w30) every 3000km. There are no visible oil leaks on the outside of the engine. Nothing on the ground over night. I followed the check procedure from TSB 09-05-00 (intake manifold gasket) and there is a slight overpressure. No vacuum so the gasket should be good. Coolant is clean and stays at the correct level. I replaced the pcv valve but I could not notice anything wrong with the old one. Rerouted the spark plug wires, TSB 18-48-98. I don't notice anything while driving. So far I could not find anything that explains the high oil usage.
Does anyone have an idea where to look next?

i read somewhere an don't hold me to this but up to 3 quarts between oil changes is normal for 5.2L -5.9L... I have always went with more then one quart per oil change is normal an was kinda shocked when i read that...
i would look into the plenum gasket, take off the air hat, and open the butterfly, shine a flashlight down there, if you see oil replace the plenum (hughs makes a good kit which will last you forever)
1/4 to 1/2 is normal.
