Default Trany Park Recall BS

OK, I got both my vehicles serviced when I got the recall notice for the park lever thinger... both worked just fine before and now they both will not go into park properly about 50% of the time... sometimes I will put my D in park, get out and the reverse lights are still on. Called the dealer that did the recall and they said it would be a min. of 2 service hours just to diag then the cost of parts to fix.

Has anyone else had this issue or did my dealer just screw something up on both trucks?

That would be part of the recall repair you won't have to pay them to fix what they didn't do right the first time. Also if the reverse light is still on Your truck might be between reverse and park which could let it roll and kill someone. Be darn sure it is secure!!

i agree with that, make sure you use the e-brake whenever you park until you get it figured out

and it should be on them to fix it since it sounds to me like they screwed up when they performed the recall.

that was my thought, I tried to get them to repair this issue many times at there exspense because the issue did not occure untill they did the recall service... I would be leary about it being there fault if it only hapened to one, but when both vehicles did them same thing direct outa the dealers recal service, that would tell me they screwed it up

yup sounds like they screwed up,

so just go in there and make a scene if they dont want to work on it, call chrysler and file a complaint, and the bbb if that doesnt work, they will eventually fix it, especially if you threaten with all of this stuff, and start following through with it, they will loose more buisness bc you are making a scene then they would by just fixing it out of pocket, so you need to make it so that fixing your problem would be the smartest buisness decision to make.

Isn't there a specific wire that attaches to the gear lever telling the tranny which gear its in? Ie Park, Reverse, etc.?

Yup!

They screwed it up on install so they need to fix it. Talk to the service manager or store manager.

tried again... they refuse to to fix it, the service manager told me to call Chrysler and file a complaint because they would tell me the same thing "the service techs installed the recalled park properly and you have another issue that is unrelated"

that service manager is a giant ******bag who needs to have some things explained to him. (mainly that if one of his techs screw up it is up to him to make sure it gets fixed)

Then do it!

File a complaint and tell them you are going to call the BBB and see what happens. Hell, you can fill out a complaint on line at the BBB!
