Default Fac. Wheel Idea!

So i was curious on if the lip of the stock 01-03 wheels can be polished? like if you take an assortment of sandpaper and take of the paint will there be clear metal behind that'll be able to be polished? what grits will I need to do this? and how long could this take with the wheels on? Does anyone have pics? Thanks!

the stock wheels are (i believe) brushed aluminum alloy, you pretty much see what you get afaik, unless you want to paint them.

EDIT: you might be able to polish the existing finish, but i dont believe you can change it

They are gray Painted aluminum.

Nothing shiny under there unless you get it chromed. You can work it to bare metal but that isn't staying shiny for long, even with wax.

The paint doesn't come off but you can chip the aluminum. I have a few of those scruffs and scrapes.
