I got mine in 08 with 105000 miles on it for 6k out the door. This was when gas was like 4 bucks a gallon and no one wanted these cars. I watched the price online drop like crazy before we got it. The dealer was like well if you can drive out here today we can give it to you for 6 out the door, great car and still is.

Who said anything about trading or selling? I plan to keep mine. Car sales most of them want to get the cars dirt cheap then slap on 2-5k on the price they paid for it. Unless you know someone and can get a car for invoice price which is or can be under blue book.

There is no invoice price on a used car and there is no blue book price on a new car. lol

I know you said you are going to keep yours but you said it was worth more and that is how you determine what a car is worth, what you can sell it for.

And of course dealers try to get cars dirt cheap and make a profit. That's what they do. Don't you go to work to make money?

If I remember right, it was about $32,000 in 1998. I now have 113,000 miles on it and I put them all on except about 400 when they drove it down from Washington. It was my big present to me. We had just finished putting a home on a couple of acres, no kids yet and could afford the payments. Now it our tow rig, not the commuter any more and we have no plans to sell. SLT, 4x4, rear air, skid plates, tow package, everything thing but leather and the CD changer. I have wanted to see one with the bench seat up front. It was an option the first year and at times I think it would have been nice with two small dogs. In 99 they also came out with the heated mirrors, that would have been nice also.

In the 90's we were getting robbed on auto prices. Look what you can get 12 years later for not much more.

I got my 2002 4wd SLT+ 4.7 with the 5 speed 545RFE and the mileage was at 95,000 for $7500 2 years ago. I bought the wife's 2003 SLT 2wd 4.7 with the 5 speed 545RFE and mileage was at 89,000 for $4500 last fall and the vehicle came from a single owner, always taken to a dealership for repairs or oil changes (have all receipts), and it was a Florida vehicle. They were asking $6500 and the lowest they would go was $5500. I told them that it will need new tires all the way around and they will cost me at least another $1000 so would they take $4500 to help me with the cost of buying the new tires. The guy called his wife and she said she was looking for $5500 but understood my reasoning and sold it to me for the price of $4500. Now that was the deal of the day for me!

Drove mine off the lot new in June of 2002. SLT, AWD, cloth Interior. No CD Changer, no trailer hitch. Paid $31,000 or something like that. 940 miles on it when I picked it up, 103,500 miles now, and I put probably 102,000 miles on it myself. Wife took it shopping once and to the green house twice. It's still treating me well.

Whew! Good to know someone else got screwed like I did! . (Pricewise anyway ...) 2 years & 9 months ago I paid 14k for mine from a crooked Philly dealership (found out later). With 38k on the clock, it threw a code a week later, the tranny started acting up and a month later it had to be rebuilt. All this before it could pass NJ State inspection! Good thing I had bit the bullet & bought a warranty. They paid up without a whimper. And the dealership suddenly disappeared from the face of the earth.

If you ever want to get a private warranty on your used car, Guardian Warranty. 1 rebuilt tranny, 2 front axles & a ball joint later - never a hassle. And if I can figure why it's burning oil before the wty runs out, they'll get another call.

But I've grown to love my D ...

Default My Durango

I bought my 1999 Durango 5.9L 4x4, with tow package, new all terrain tires, and CD player and 120.000 miles for $5800 back in 2/2009. It has only had one owner. Just hit 140,000 miles yesterday and now am starting to have some issues, but is to be expected.
