Default What did you pay for your Durango?

Well, I was just wondering what other people paid. So lets here it. Give all the info you can with the price that you paid.

I picked up my 2003 Durango SLT 4x4 4.7 with 181,000 miles on it. It is by no means perfect, but isnt beat to hell. It had 2 dents and brand new tires. Goes great and had a very very small exhaust leak ( Passed inspection no problem ).

I thought I did pretty good. $2400.

I spent 5k for my 99D SLT 5.2L. I did blue book it and it was worth 8500 now a few years later it is still worth 7600 with only 116k miles on it. It was a learning process being a chevy mainly man but I love my D more than ever now. The way I look at it is replace what's broke or slap a reman engine and the value will rise plus on a reman engine you know what the engine has been through too. I will never part with mine and I hate the newer models as they look more like mini-vans. No offense to those that own a 2004 and up if I remember right that is when the body style changed?

Bought my 2003 Fully Loaded 4.7 SLT about 4 years ago with 45,000 miles on it for right around $13,000. There was NOTHING wrong with it and still runs like a dream!

A reman engine will likely REDUCE the value of the vehicle, not raise it.

scott, just wondering why you feel a rebuilt engine will reduce the value of the vehicle? it would be like resetting the mileage on the engine (only the engine, but still) to 0 at some point later in the vehicles life, most people will see that and think "o so its as if i bought a car with xxxx less miles on it, great"

just trying to understand your reasoning here, maybe you thought of something that i didnt?

Scot I looked into this and putting a reman engine in it will raise my value by at least 3k. A reman engine is practically the same as a brand new one but for less.

I sold cars for 8 years. I do have some experience in this subject. Go try to trade your car in and tell them it's got a new motor in it. It just sets off all kinds of alarms to the person buying the car. If the engine was already toast, what else is?

I paid 10k back in 2004 for my 1998 but I walked out of a 2002 Chevy Duramax diesel, Got money back too to offset the cost.

Anyway I put about 10k+ into my rig and sold it for 3k in 2009. The buyer got a deal that could choke a horse.
