You might be on the right track with giving the window area "a little push", I used to work for a towing and salvage company that did lock outs for customers that would lock there keys in the car, we would use these miniture air bags that would slid in between the door and the body right at the apex of the window frame, blow them up and they would give you enough room to slid a special rod into the car and release the locks letting the people into there car. long story short, these would sometimes cause the window pillar to bend ever so slightly, just enough to let a small anoying amount of air to get threw the weatherstriping while driving. I am not saying that is what happend but something similer could have.

you may need to take that door to metal. It's darker than the rest of the vechicle, and red paint is a bitch to make "lighter" IMHO.

Before doing the entire door, I would see if you can sand and match a small section of it. If you can, keep going. If not, it saves you the effort of hand sanding the entire thing.

Course, you could go to white primer....

1 - sand door with 600 then wash & dry

2 - sand with 800 and wash & dry

3 - prime with high build white - light coat.

4 - second coat of primer - light coat

5 - sand with 800, wash & dry

6 - another coat of white primer

7 - sand with 800 wash & dry

8 sand with 1000 or 1200, wash & dry

9 blow the new red really light, dry

10 - blow another coat of red, this time let it dry then sand with 1200

11 - another coat of red, dry, then sand with 1200, wash & dry

12 - clear coat, dry, sand with 1200, wash and dry

13 - clear coat layer 2, dry, sand with 1800, wash & dry

14 - clear coat layer 3, dry, sand with 2400, wash, dry, polish & wax.

or....

step 1 - go to Maaco, drop it off and let them paint it

Thanks nearest maco is 300 miles away roughly. I am taking it down to the metal with a sandblaster.

I have a new question with the hanging of the door. I have that small gap as previously stated I took a better look and it seems that my top hinge has been pulled some as I look down from the front of the truck. Is that adjustable like the striker? Since it is so little but enough gap to let rain in can I just bang it back into place? Let me know as I am hoping to get this done tomorrow.

i believe that the hinges are adjustable to an extent, (not very much, but it might be enough for you) this is what i was trying to suggest earlier.

I'll get a side view pic for you to see the difference. The other side doesn't have this gap. It is very little but I bet enough to cause the air thing and such.

Here's the pics. One is to show the Pass. Door the other two of course is the Driver's side. It doesn't look like it but the Pass is flush the angle makes it look not though. Suns bright so it was hard to get some good pics.

See how it hangs out more? I also looked at the top hinge really closely too and nothing seems bent or out of shape. I guess it could and do this though?

Do you need a pic of the hinge too?

honestly i would start by just loosening where the hinge mounts to the rest of the car (not the door) and see if you can get the door to push flush with those bolts loose(support the door at the far end before loosening the hinge )

It wasn't the hinge so the upper part around the window just needed tweaked. Did it with the latching straps you can get at walmart tested it with a water hose to ensure no leakage all looks good now.
