Default Alarm install question

I did search on this and didnt find anything I needed, so here goes.

I put an Autopage rs730 in the Malibu I traded for this truck. I pulled it out literally right before I took the car to the guy, to save for this truck. I've figured out most of the wiring and relays I need to use, except I havn't been able to find the neutral safety switch wire for the remote start. I know Im probably overlooking it, But I did see where another member had an Autopage in one of these, so hopefully somebody can chime in. I can post the wiring guide if anybody is interested after I install and check all the functions, etc.

Other wires Im not sure about yet since I havnt started testing or anything, the domelight triggers, is it one for Dr. door and one for the other 3 and hatch or is the hatch seperate from those even?

Am I looking at multiple Ignition 1&2 and Accessory wires at the ignition switch? Like two or more Dark blues and Black/white, Black/orange? That Malibu was a nightmare with multiples like that and the airbag light would stay on if your remote started, but was normal with key operation.

Thanks in advance.

yes your truck has a nuetral saftey switch, but im not sure where the wire comes in from, you can check through these pdfs for the wiring diagram, and im sure it will answer your questions http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=53f6w4a6wme00

On that year it is located outside of the case right by the linkage. It is not the Transmission Output Sensor.

UPDATE. Finally got around to getting time to put this in. Neutral safety switch wire location is at the underhood fuse block, in the loom coming out heading towards the engine. I'll edit and add the color later, It wasn't yellow, but I did find it. Everything else seems to be functioning exactly like it should, inculding the extras I wired up, except the dome lights....

I used the black with blue stripe and the tan with red stripe, diode isolated from eachother. I used the black with blue stripe as the dome light supervision tap. I get no dome light with alarm functions, and they do not work for the door triggers. I also get a notification on the remote to check the door. Any ideas? I am using my own relay, to provide a high current ground for the dome light supervision just so it doesnt draw too much from the alarm, it was a low current output, I'd have to look again to see what it was. I have the stripe on the diodes towards the splice on the wire, or away from the alarm. It worked as it should set up that way in the Malibu, and the wiring is the same as far as polarity and using two trigger wires for driver door and all other doors. All of the relays are brand new, as well as their plugs/harnesses, only used for about 2 months in the Malibu.

If anybody can help, and I get this lined out and functioning correctly I will post the diagram I put together with wire locations for anybody that wants to do this in the future. However, the wiring is specific to 98 and 99 only, some of it only 98. I will try to outline what is 98 specific. I had no problems or check engine light with remote starting, or remote starting and driving with key. If I can just get this dome light figured out it'll be in good shape. I also left an extra relay on the relay rack I built for future additions to the alarm.

Neutral saftey switch wire at fuse box under hood is Black with white stripe.

Ok, I guess dont install your alarm on little sleep..... I didnt test my door trigger/ dome light supervision wire on the vehicle side, I just went with my wire guide and used the wrong wire for the driver door. I tested everything else, just not that one. I had it tied into a blue with black stripe.... Supposed to be black with blue stripe, on the black connector. Everything is working exactly like it should now. very happy with the results. I will go over my wire guide again, now that I've corrected my mistakes and put a clean easy to understand guide together for anybody that wants to use it later. This thing was a LOT easier to install into than the Malibu was.

Now to find a decently priced cellular module for this system so I can track it online or with my phone :P

Just a final note on this, Proves the point of test EVERY thing your tieing into before you do. This could have went very badly, Could have blown something out, shorted something in the computer or burned the truck down. PAY ATTENTION if your installing and dont have any or much experience with it. Luckily, The domelight wire from the alarm unit doesn't stay active very long and Whatever I tied into was a ground for something else. I did test that far, just didn't check that it went away with the door being latched.

glad you got it figured out, however my personal opinion is that alarms are more trouble than they are worth

Only if installed and set-up incorrectly.

I have had security systems in my cars since 1994 or '95, shortly after I started driving anyway. Only ever had issues with one system, and even the manufacturer later admitted that was the worst system they ever made, just tried to pack too much into to small of a package, without enough real world testing.

Since I have worked as an Automotive Electronic Accessory Tech for longer than I have had my licence, I have tested many systems over the years. My Malibu had the same system for the longest, about 6 years, before a shorting starter, caused my battery to drain over night, and take out several electronic devices, including my alarm, great birthday gift that was a couple of years ago. I plugged in a newer version of the system and it has worked great for the past couple of years. I will be transferring that system to my Dak shortly.

I find that most people or installers want to set the shock sensor sensitivity WAY too high and causes false alarms. FWIW I don't even have a shock sensor in my Malibu, this way if it goes off, I KNOW it's not a false alarm.

This alarm, in the Malibu, was my first alarm. It was bought because we had moved inside city limits, wife took a job as an apartment manager and you have to live on site. Still have the property 9 miles from town, but thats another story. We were here for about 3 weeks, somebody decided we didnt need the driver side mirror on the Malibu anymore. Ripped the whole thing off, wires and all...

I bought the alarm and another gun. Another car was broken into and stereo stolen that day. Other vehicles have been broken into, random items stolen, etc. Its not the residents, as the ones here at that time were just happy to get new management that was taking care of things and getting everything fixed around here. The police have a few ideas of whos involved but, small town, small department and not enough evidence. The apartments are quiet, and upscale, not a ghetto. Town is for the most part, middle upperclass, lots of retirement residents. Basically a few blocks here and there of trashy, unrespectful types.

So that is my reasoning for the alarm. The keyless entry and remote start is just a plus with a 2 year old, especially with winter coming on. I will be buying the same model alarm for the Camaro when I get done with it, before it ever comes over here. It is outside of town stored at some familys house where there is always at least one person there, and 99% of the time somebody awake somewhere.
