okay, well my tranny pan is rotting away but thats becideds the point, i called a dodge dealer in my area to get a new pan he told me there were 3 trannys made then. so he needed my VIN. i gave it to him 3 times and every time he told me it wasnt a dodge number or a real number and to check the door, so i looked there and the thing is gone. is there any other places i can look to find my vin to see if my truck was re-VIN'd? im hoping that it wasnt stolen and re tagged. thanks guys!!!

 

did you try the tag in the windshield, on the driverside near the bottom?

thats the one iv always used (well that or the registration, but since they are the same)

i have heard there should be one on the engine somewhere but im not sure where


of course it is possible the guy you talked to was a ****ing moron, try the dodge website to request a build sheet.

Can you post a picture of the pan, I could tell you which one you have.The dealer should have known that the 5.2 only has 2 options for pans not 3. The 3rd one would be for the 4.7L engine.Yours would either be a 42/44RE or 46RE transmission.

Yours is either a 42-44RE.


46RE was only on the 5.9L and 45RFE was on the 4.7L in later years.
