No (Front) Heat or A/C in 03 Durango
Hello! New here, sorry if this has already been covered.
I have no heat or ac coming from the front of my 03 durango. Not sure whether it's the switch or the blower motor or the resistor... or what? How do you check? A friend of mine said I can 'hot wire' the blower to see if it's working or not - but I don't have a clue how to go about doing that.
(Maybe I should mention I'm a woman who knows very little about this kind of stuff, but I'm willing to learn / try.. I also have a very handy dad that can help me if I can't figure it out - I just hate having to ask for his help all the time)
Anyways, I appreciate any help or suggestions you can give me!!
Thanks!!
Toni

take a look at the wire harness by the resistor (take a pic for us if you are unsure about it) and see if it looks burnt/melted, if so i would replace the harness AND the resistor if it looks fine, i would start off replacing the resistor (it only costs $15 at the dealer)
Ok, so I didn't get to it over the weekend
But I have got to it now... Okay, I was able to locate the resistor. I have unscrewed it and it is hanging from the passenger foot well:

I DID notice that one of the wires to it was 'damaged / corroded':

I am planning on replacing the wires. Not to sound ignorant, I really don't know, what do I need to buy?
I also have read that people have a hard time getting the clip on the connector to release from the resistor. Any suggestions? (I don't want to damage anything)
THANK YOU!! I DO APPRECIATE YOUR HELP!!

yup i second the new wire harness, you can buy it at the dealer, or go to a junkyard and just cut as much as you can of a good harness out of a wrecked truck

DD03, don't mind hydrashocker, he's still on a bender from last week...LOL
yep, get a new wiring harness from the dealer or slavage one from the junkyard.

Ok, took my durango to my dad, he tested the resistor (he's an electrician) and said it was good. Tested the fan, said it worked fine. He is now thinking the problem must be in the switch......
He's in the process of finding a new wiring harness. Any suggestions about the switch?
Thanks!
