The bearing making the noise will be the one "silenced" under a load, meaning if the weight shift pushing on the bearing stops making the noise, this will be the one that is bad. (left turn, right wheel, right turn left wheel) I found this out by trial and error,
So to confirm, when I turn right I get a noise increase, when I turn left there is silence, so it's my front right bearing that needs replacing ?

And as I have a 2WD 2000 Durango I just need to replace the bearing, not the entire hub ?

Please confirm, then I just need to try and source the correct bearing in the UK (or buy one on Ebay motors US and get it shipped over).

Cheers !

Im not sure about the 2 wheel drive being a bearing instead of a hub assembly. as I understand it the entire hub is sealed so a bearing will not help you. It is the hub assembly that you would need. and Yes, if you are turning left, the weight pushes on the right and that will silence the bad bearing. I thought for sure it was the opposite but when I took it all apart, it was in fact the other way around. the load on the bearing makes it quiet.

Good morning guy's.. I replaced my hub but I have a Question for you..

I pulled this out of the repair manual, is 173 ft.lbs correct??

The old hub was no where near this, so when I put the new one on I went to to 100 ft lbs..

What do you guy's think?

Half Shaft Nut---------180lbs
Hub Bearing Bolts-----65lbs

The nut needs the 180, bearing bolts are the 3 that are on the back side of the knuckle holding on the hub.

Hi, I just ordered wheel bearings for my Duragno as well, I know you are in the UK but Amazon was one of the cheapest places I found.

$46.41 for the Hub Assembly

515009 is for the right with ABS 515008 for the Left with ABS
and if you don't have ABS then you need the 515007

http://www.amazon.com/Precision-Auto...ar=1&carId=002

Hope this helps!

It does Mike, thanks. I need to opt for 515032 though I think as I only have 2WD and don't need a front driven hub. I have mailed them about shipping as they only ship to the US. I might have to ask someone in the US to receive and ship it on for me.

Cheers buddy !
