Although i'd go with the deisel over anything, it would be impossible to make it street legal in emissions states unless it was offroad only. Srt8 would be the trick for street rigs

yea i dont plan on blowing any diesel smoke out of this truck, emissions is too strict, and i dont think i can fit that w/o moving the firewall, would be sweet, but not in the plans.

Putting a Hemi in wouldn't be as hard as it sounds,I did one in my Dakota. You wouldn't have to change anything except the Motor and transmission wiring harness and get the computer with the Motor you buy. You use your pdc."Power Distribution Center".Fuse Box.That operates your lights Dash Exc............I would get a 2004 to do the swap, then you don't have to deal with the "Drop 4 Cylinders"...Deal they started in 2005...

if he is starting w/ the 4.7 i believe it bolts up to the same trans, which means the t-case doesnt need to be touched

The 4.7 and 5.7 Hemi Have the same bolt pattern. You could use your transmission. If yours is an automatic 45rfe or 5-45rfe- The wiring harness and transmission are the same, Just make sure you get a Wiring harness from a 4x4 Dodge Ram 1500 with an automatic 5-45rfe..

So the wiring harness is the same for a 2000-2003 Durango with a 4.7L as the HEMI in the 2004+ that runs the T-case so plug and play?

Plug and play YES-"IF" You're transmission is a 45rfe "OR" 5-45rfe. But you can't use you're wiring harness, you still have to use the wiring harness that you get with the computer or computers that come with the Hemi Motor you buy. You'll plug the harness you get into the motor, then when it comes to your transmission the Hemi harness will have the same plugs as the 4.7 harness going to your trans.Plug them in...

"ALSO", If you use 2003 computers, you must use 2003 Harness.Same with 04- 05- 06 -07..
The "Computer and wiring Harnesses" on all these years are differant..You will only be able to use one of two years. 03 "OR" 04...
On 03 Hemi's they put a pcm and tcm both to operate the Trans and Motor."Seperately"...Like what you have now...
In 04 they found a way to put both TCM and PCM in one computer doing away with the TCM...
