Question New tail light housing = parking light fuse (#4) blowing

So, I had my left tail light out for a while now that was due to a melted/cracked connection in the OEM housing. Aside from that tail light and corresponding brake light, everything else worked fine.

I ordered a new tail light housing and replaced it no problem, but now my parking light fuse (fuse #4) keeps blowing as soon as I turn on the lights. If I disconnect the new tail light, the fuse doesn’t blow. As soon as I plug in the new tail light housing, it blows. It will blow even if there are no light bulbs in any of the sockets; just plugging in an empty housing will blow the fuse.

What could be the problem?

Thanks in advanced!

Did you check the connector? Did it look melted/compromised? If you got the part from a dealer, take it back for exchange. If from a vendor, ask for an RA number and have it replaced.

Multi-meter it and find the short!

Found the short with a multitester but seeing how these circuits are molded into the housing there's nothing I can do to fix it. Just sent off an email to vendor.

Thanks everyone
