Hi!

I am a owner of a dodge durango 1999 4x4.

The thing is that my transmission jumps from the first gear directly to the third whitout the second gear. i´ve heard that these transmissions contains a lot off
Electricity or can it be within the valve body och the clutch?
The other gears work perfectly, also the od. oil level is ok.

Transmissions have never been my strong point...

It is the tranny manual. I couldn't make heads nor tails of it.
I skipped trannies in Vo-Tech.

shrpshtr325 was nice enough to show the link to the manual in another thread.

Welcome to DF
You could have a problem with the front band, valve body or the kick down throttle cable.
How is the fluid level and condition?

If the fuild level is fine then the next step is to make some repairs to the transmission. Check the fuild quality. It needs to be a nice light reddish color and not smell burnt or look brown or mucky. How many miles is on the vehicle. What engine is in it. As far as I know all Durango's in 99 either had a 318 or 360. Your motor should be paired with a 46re transmission. Check and adjust the bands. There are some sensors and solenoids etc in transmissions but if you disconnect the battery negative you should be fine. Also if you do any internal work check out the magnet for metal. A few small...and I mean very little tiny pieces...are ok. Chunks or lots of metal shavings indicate a problem.
