First photo I can see the tear. Just a little right of center.... above the grease stain.

I would recommend r/r the whole cv shaft. Also when it is installed make sure that the dust boot retaining clamp is not caught on anything or it will be r/r pretty quickly. I learned that the hard way.

Hear me out on the whole cv shaft idea.....

You have to remove the whole shaft either way... The added cost of the entire shaft is offset by the reduced labor and convenience of a simple removal/replacement. Done by a professional mechanic with proper tools and all parts available it should not take more than about an hour. In my case I had a RH Hub bearing that was going out so since the bearing was off anyway I sheduled the bearing and CV shaft at the same time...mechanic didn't charge me any additional labor.

I replaced the entire shaft myself. It wasn't too difficult. While I had it apart I also changed upper ball joints, wheel bearing hubs, and shocks. Should have done the tie rods and lower ball joints too but my wallet was emptying way too fast. lol

You can always get that if needed later. Thing is, you've been in there now and ya know how things work so if ya have to do them it's a very easy job now.
