Default Tranny rebuilt Did i get ripped off ?

Hi all

I just got my D back from Big D Transmission in Garland texas. It cost me $1800 to have my 46RE rebuilt. New T kit was put in,New valve body, torque converter, filter, Gasket,Drums and some other bits and pieces as well. This job came with a life time warranty as long as i get it serviced there when its due.Do you guys think i spent way too much ?

Looks like a fair price. You need to consider parts and labor. Plus a mechanic that knows what the hell he is doing.

I just replaced the transmission on my '05, the tranny alone, on a deal, cost me $500, for a used piece. Then there was about 5 to 6 hours for re&re, that I did, so that didn't cost me anything but time there. The fluid alone was almost $60, my cost, then the filter. It all adds up pretty quickly. I'd have to say it's pretty fair for the prices I have seen.

they're talking fancy about a tranny rebuild kit but considering all and all, i think you came out ok.. a tranny is a place where you can make out really big doing it yourself but not all mechanics wanna deal with that mess.. and i can fully understand why... (i leave the tans to the pros myself) just remember.. 1800 sure beats 12 months of car payments..
