dude guys you are both talking about a TCM (transmission control module) which does not exist on the 5.9 mated transmissions, the TCCM however (transfer case control module) controls the shifting of the transfer case on EVERY SINGLE D w/ electronic shift on the fly 4x4 so this guy DOES have a TCCM, and it should be mounted inside the cabin right were he found it. and rhillman, in order to shift into 4hi all you need to do is to be rolling at less than 25 (iirc, check your manual to be shore) and turn the switch to 4hi, it SHOULD switch, no need to put it into nuetral for that switch, however to get into 4lo you need to slow WAYYYYY down (5 or less) and put it into nuetral before it will shift the t-case into 4lo
Thank you for that clarification... I was starting to think I needed to drink more and work on vehicles less. So now I am at a new switch, new tccm module (fuses checked okay), and still no 4x4. Could it be the mode sensor or something like a speed sensor or something in the ABS system. I know the book says that the tccm checks for all othe above and the including questionable items so should I start there or retire and send it to the dealer?
Just a question to have anyone ponder about. What if the transfer case was "stuck"? How would you know and how could you fix it if it was? Second... what if you have power going into the switch but while you were selecting different ranges and testing other wires for voltage coming out and you had none... could the second switch be bad?

TCM, TCCM... SS is right. I was missing a "C"
As you were.

AFAIK, if the transfer case is "stuck" in a drive mode and you try to switch it, the indicator lights on the switch would flash warning you of a potential problem. #2 If you have power going into the switch and no power going out, then it's the switch that's at fault.Originally Posted by rhillman75

This just shows that there are still responsible people who admit there were mistakes made and admit it. Good show, gentlemen.Originally Posted by hydrashocker

We pride ourselves on correct remote diagnostics. I believe we are superior to dealerships most of the time, and we are free. Speaking about myself, I don't consider myself a car guy... however I am a damn good Durango guy.
All we said about TCMs is correct, just not applicable in this situation.
It is always a good rule of thumb to be able to fall on your sword. Living in the world of Absolute require that occasionally (some even mistakenly call it conceit... LOL)
With all that said, there is a 100% guaranteed refund of your money spent here on all advice provided. Sometimes you can get more than what you paid for.
