98 Durango Stalls HELP!!!!!!
My 98 Durango 4wd (not v8) started this morning but kept dying. I believe it may have run out of gas. Put gas in it and it wouldn't start so we researched and did the turn key on & off and it started. However, it will not stay started unless you keep the gas pedal down. It does not idle at all and even if you take your foot off the gas to put it into drive or reverse it just dies. Can anyone let me know if there is a simple fix or if I will have to have it towed to a shop?

Also you said your Durango is NOT a V8, that is completely incorrect as 1999 was the only model to have a 3.9L V6 and yours is a 1998?
sounds to me like you have a bad battery, or a bad IAC motor, its in the back of the throttle body, up against the firewall, underneath the airhat, held in by two torx bolts (sorry, i dont remember the size right now), and i will move this the first gen section where it will get more views, noone really looks here in the general section which is why there are no posts here

+2 on the battery being bad. I had the exact symptoms until I switched out the battery. Starting and running great so far.

I am having the same issue and i checked the iac and seems after i unplug it my durango doesn't stall out but sits at a high idle so i am replacing the iac tomorrow and i will post the results when done
Before i replace the iac though i am going to clean the tb and see if that helps at all

1998 only came in 5.2L and 5.9L engines.
Remember to reset the PCM after you clean and replace the IAC: https://dodgeforum.com/forum/1st-gen...ine-light.html
