Default 99 durango just shuts off

Im a newbie to this forum i recently just go myself a 99 d 5.2 slt towing package. Anyways lastnight i took it to the car wash and washed it and stopped by my buddies garage i left it sit outside and run was in there b/s and when i came out it wasnt running so i hoped in and cranked nothing happened so looking over stuffing i wiggled the connection on the computer the one nearest the fire wall and started back up and acted as if nothing happened runs fine and after this im kinda leary about driving it. So ive been doing me research on here and i come to find the 99s pcm are prone to failure could that be what it is? Thanks jim.

Have you checked the connection on the battery? If you turn the key and you hear a clicking sound its the battery connection.

Well I would make sure you are getting a good connection first at the harness. If you continue to have issues then I would replace it. Personally, the PCM's they used in 1999 should be the same as those used in 1998 and they don't have the problem? Not sure if there was a bad batch that went out or not?

Anyway, if it looks like an anchor from abuse then I would think it most likely came out of a junk yard or something where they didn't care about it. It might be you best choice to replace it. If you do I would get one shipped to your door PRE-flashed for direct install. You can find re-builders on ebay. Look for companies that have lots of transactions and great feed back.

usually if wigging wires fixes it, the problem is a bad/dirty connection, now this bad connection could (in theory, iv never seen it happen) bee a connection from the plug to the circuit board which would require a replacement of the pcm in order to fix

Sounds like you need a new PCM then.
