the tag on my 1998 durango for the rear axle says 3.9 or just 39 so what is my rear axle ratio because i need to start looking for a new ring gear or hole new axle.

 

probably 3.92 as that is the closest ratio to 3.9

If it says 39 on the rear tag on the differential then it is a 3.92.

 

isnt the axle under it a 9.25?

 

There are two different axles in the Durango.

There is a Chrysler 8.25 and a Chrysler 9.25........First you need to find out which one you got then go from there.

I think the 9.25 has a 12 bolt cover and 8.25 is only 10. You can also get a build sheet for your Durango that will have all the information you need. You can email Dodge, call Dodge service or go into a Dodge parts center and have them print you off one.

 

How do i Email Dodge to get my build sheet.

 

Go to the dodge website and use the customer assistance to request one.

 

There should be a sticker inside your glove compartment that will give you all the info on the rear diff specs.
