Transmission Issue
I seem to be having transmission issues with my '03 Durango 4.7L, and I can't figure out why. Here's what's happening:
1. Sometimes at idle I can see the RPM's bouncing between about 600 - 800.
2. Downshifting when coming to a stop sign / light causes the car to shift ...oddly. Almost like it doesn't want to shift out of 2nd into 1st until it's almost too late. The truck has stalled out on me a few times.
3. At highway speeds, I've had issue more recently with the truck staying in gear. It almost feels like something is holding back my acceleration, especially in the overdrive gear. It also downshifts when it really doesn't need to, especially when going up hills. This is most noticeable at speeds over 60mph.
With that said, a local transmission shop that I heard real good things about had the thing for over 2 weeks and couldn't find anything wrong with it. They opened the case and replaced the fluid and filters, which lessened the problems, but didn't fix them (it doesn't stall as easily if at all, the RPM's barely bounce, but they do, and highway shifting is improved, but not fixed).
I have a friend who's going to help me replace the TPS today, and I might put a new air filter in for kicks and giggles, but I'm really at a loss. The vehicle as about 120k miles on it, and it's paid off, so I'd really like to keep it.
Anyone have any thoughts on what might be happening here?
Thanks!

Replace the TPS and clean the Throttle Body and reset the PCM:
