Default A/C Heater making whistling

I need some help ASAP!! I just got my heater core replaced and when I set my fan to 2nd from lowest, you can hear whistliing noise which is coming from the air vents internally or externally, cannot pinpoint where the whistling is coming from. It's not too loud, only audible when the cabin is quiet. The whistling noise will change with air speed. The first two lowest speeds is definitely audible. But the top two air speeds is not too audible due to the noise generated by the high speed air flow.

However, when you move the temp dial towards the cold setting, the whistling disappears. May sound like a blend door issue.

I took my truck back to the shop and they tore down the system again and inspected the housing assembly where the blend door is and all looks good. So we're all puzzled and don't know what else to look.

I am heading back to pick up my truck from the shop but like to resolve this whistling issue asap as it is irritating me listening to it when the cabin is quiet.

At least I have heat so I cannot complain too much.

i wonder if the air is moving over the heater core oddly since you said it goes away when you set the vents to cold air i dont have any theories on how to test for that at this point tho.

Could be the temperature difference on the motor. If them motor bearings are going, it could whine slightly like your stating.

Here is your answer.
There is a heavy, gooey, black rubber seal gasket on the plastic venting. Your shop either:

- Didn't replace it
- Got it fouled up and it is leaking
- Used an aftermarket gasket else and it's a cheapo

Either way, it goes back 100% to the install/faulty install of the replacement.

FORCE the shop to pull the dash and get it right **OR** live with it. There is no middle ground.

Mine is/was overly loud on high fan from the same reasons. Not a whistle, but way to much noise. I was able to lessen it by sealing as many places as I could with caulking behind the glove box. I let it ride way to long and couldn't go back to the shop to force their hand. My bad. You do not have to suffer the same fate.
