Alternator or PCM?
I have 1999 Durango that Im having issues with. Im getting codes 0753 and 1765. Ive checked the 3-4 shift solenoid and circuit, everything looks good. Im leaning towards the PCM. Another indication of the PCM, with the engine running, I measure 18volts at the battery, that seems high. Im used to seeing around 14 volts on most other vehicles. The battery is bubbling a bit due to over charge I think. With the engine off the battery reads almost 16 volts. I understand that the voltage regulator is inside the PCM so it may be possible that the regulator circuit in the PCM is bad. Also after reading another thread, I grounded the pink wire on the center connector of the PCM, and my codes went away, the transmission shifted normal as well. Anything else I can check before I spend $250 on a reman PCM?
No,
Replace the Alternator. The alternator inputs voltage un-regulated by the PCM to the battery thus meaning a direct connection. However, the alternator should be regulated at a maxamum of about 14.6 volts or so. You should replace the alternator and the battery as well.
As for the PCM, I have no idea.
P0753 Trans 3-4 Shift Sol/Trans Relay Circs
P1765-TRANS 12 VOLT SUPPLY RELAY CTRL CIRCUIT
You have some transmission issues dude.
