where in jersey are you??(we topped out at 21 today . . .) sounds like one of two problems, clogged heater core, or a bad solenoid which controls the temperature blend door (on the older models this could be bad vacuum line going into the controls)

I had this issue on my '99 when I first bought it. Winter time came and I froze all winter. It would barely defrost the windows in 10 degree weather. Once it hit the negative temps it was almost not fun at all to drive. Cold!

I flushed the heater core, but that really didn't make much of a difference. It definitely helped, but it was still poor. I replaced the heater core the following year and it heats very reasonably now. My guess is the core just got corroded internally. Still doesn't have the heat my '01 has, but no issues with defrosting or anything.

You may also have a blend door issue. I guess there is a service bulletin that addresses it.

The stock thermostat is 195 and I know I've seen low temp stats at 160 and 180 so more than likely its your thermostat.

your temp gauge should run somewhere close to dead center, mine is actually a little lower than that recently (its been COLD, so i wouldnt be worried by that) i would suggest uploading the image to a photobucket or something so that you can share the link here
