Default TRANS PROBLEM? only one.

OK when i shift from 1st to second all goes well. but when it goes from 2nd to 3rd then it slips. but its not like an actual slip it just revs out and then changes gears like it has zero line pressure. i know its 2sn to third because i will manually shift from 1st so 2nd then 2nd to drive then there she goes. dose the same if i just put it in drive. it will not do it if i put it to the floor till i reach 3rd gear. Any Trans guys know whats up. and what trans is in my durango. It is a 1998 Durango with a 5.2. and has the NV242HD

THANK YOU
Jordan

Sorry to tell you its time for either a seal kit or an overhaul. What happens it the seals get a lot fo heat from the fluid, causing the seals to get hard and then it take a lot of fluid to apply the piston to make your upshift. I'm going to guess it will upshift after reaching 50 mph. Then it shifts into 4th gear okay.

No this will happen around 30 to 40 MPH at the MAX! happens very quick in probably less than a second.

You can try to lowing the pan and inspect for metal and ck the band ajustments. If it all looks fine, replace the filter.
