Default Spare key

I only got one key and fob for my d when I got it. I was wondering about how much I should expect to pay for a replacement? Also, have any of you heard of some walmarts getting a new key cutting machine that lets then copy car keys that have chips in them?

I just had a spare key made for my 02; it was a couple bucks... No chip in it. You can buy a used fob for $15 - $20 on Ebay or Craigslist. They are pretty easy to program.
Also, the local Ace Hardware near me has a device that programs keys with chips. They charge about $75.

if you have a black ignition key you can get it done at any key cutting place that does double bit keys no chip in those, and as stated above, remotes can be bought online for not too much

Yeah yours does not have a chip in it. Just a regular old fashioned key.

take it into like home depot or something, they have something there that will tell you if its a chip key, i have heard that grey keys ARE chip keys, but i have never seen one, so go and check and even if it is home depot can supposedly cut them now so you should be able to do that.

Yeah like shrp said that's my recommendation to you as well. Someone there would be able to tell you if it is or if it's not.

The grey key has the chip it it to start the D. It's installed in the aftermarket alarm/remote start kit. The black key has no chip so you can have it cut any place that does keys. IIRC, the key code is 19R2 under Chrysler/Dodge keys made by Axxess keys. HTH. Funny sidenote: One day my mother in law wanted me and my brother in law to move dad in law's honda. She hands us a ket and we open the door but the engine won't turn over. We think it's a dead battery but all the electricals come on and the meter shows good charge. Then we check the shnieder(?) valve to see if there's gas pressure. Gas comes shooting out. So we're standing there like two apes looking at a new fangled piece of something pointing and grunting at what next to try. Out she comes with another key, a bigger looking key and says, "Here, use this. This is the key that dad starts the car with." Oy vey!!! We were using the valet key instead of the chipped key!

I got a copy made at one of the larger walmart stores, local one is small and doesn't have the equipment. It cost me $60, but it works just great. Now I just gotta get a spare fob.

I would check for a new fob on eBay. You can typically get them a dime a dozen.

I've never really heard of a small local walmart lol I guess I've just never lived in a small enough town!
