Exclamation LSD/4W ABS Q's

I am sure there is already an existing thread discussing this but I am at work right now and don't have time to go searching. Basically I have a 9.25 rear with 3.55 gears and sadly its open. I learned this by accidentally managing a one wheel peel. I'd like to get you guys' input on some affordable drop in options, in the near future i hope to trow an exhaust system on the beast because the radiator fan almost mutes the 4.7.

Second, I've also been stuck with rear ABS and was wondering if there was any way to possibly upgrade to Four Wheel ABS. Will the 2W ABS system allow for me to add it to the front as well? Thanks to everyone who reads and gives me input on these questions!!

Just because you did a 1 wheel peel out doesn't necessarily mean that you have an open and not a LS rear carrier. Raise the rear end by the center of the diff so both tires are off the ground and spin a tire. If the other tire spins the same way you have a LS carrier. If it turns the opposite way then it is an open carrier.

2nd:
To upgrade to 4 wheel ABS you have to replace the wheel bearings with ones that have ABS sensors on them. Also you would have to run the harnesses to the wheels. Next you would have to find a truck with the 4 wheels ABS module with the exact year and engine (a perfect match). Then cross your fingers and hope the pin outs are there....LOL....I wouldn't do it.

Lol hydra, after driving on the ice last night I figured out my durango gets around just fine, I didn't even have to engage the 4wd. A also was scrolling thru the forums and read about the excessively loud engine fan. Would there be any major harm in removing this completely? I don't have time to do all those fancy secondary upgrades and I just want to be able to hear my engine.

when you are driving down the road moving there would likely be no harm in taking it out, however when you get stuck in traffic it is essential that you have a fan (either the stock clutch fan, or an aftermarket large volume electric fan) in order to keep the truck from overheating.

Well last night after start up my fan stayed on almost the entire drive home and it was probably about 15 to 20 degrees out

Is your drive home mostly driving or does it include stopping or sitting in traffic? Basically what that fan is there to do is force air to pass thru the radiator the keep the fluid lower temperature.

Also, before you take it out think about durin the summer possibly when its a little warmer out.

It's mostly driving on a 55 mph highway but with the snow and ice i was going about 40 to 45. I take all the back roads to avoid constant stopping.

Well it sounds like that could be a feesable fix for your noise. I'm not going to steer you one way or the other but like shrp said, it is absolutely crucial you have a fan if you're ever in any kind of traffic or stoplight city driving.

Yeah i suppose so, it can get up to 110 here in omaha during the summer and occasionally i'll drive over to Iowa and get stuck in a huge traffic jam on I-80. But to me it makes absolutely no sense as to why Dodge made their engine fan the way they did and also had 2w ABS standard, I used to have an 01 explorer with a 302 and it has all electric fans, 4 wheel disc and 4w ABS. Why must Dodge be so slow?

Oh and also Hydra my glove sticker only says Corporate 9, nothing about LS on it.
