Default O2 Sensor problem

I just bought a new to me 99' 5.2 4x4 Durango. It needs a little work here and there... I wasn't about to get a minivan to haul the kids around with. The current problem im working on now is an o2 sensor. I believe it is the upstream sensor (closest to the manifolds). The previous owner replaced the trans and doing so, didnt unhook the o2 sensor. So now the wires have pulled out of the connector for the o2 sensor. O2 sensor has 4 wires (white, white, gray, black). The connector that I believe it goes to (gray-4 wires???) has 4 wires (black/blue,tan/white,orange/blue,black). Does anyone know which wires go to what? I would rather replace the connector or splice them together rather than buy a new o2 sensor.

your best bet is to replace the connector, you do NOT want to solder/splice the lines together bc O2 sensors CAN go bad and you want the swap to be simple later on if it comes up

Take the 02 sensor back to the Auto Parts store as you bought a universal one and not the correct one.

Go to the dealer and get the RIGHT one. THe dealer is the best place hands down to get them from.

You can always try to fix yours by pulling it out and taking a propane torch to it burning just the end. You will see the crap burn off it as it turns orange under the flame. Burn the deposits off and reinstall the original 02 sensor if you can. Rest the PCM after replacing it either way. https://dodgeforum.com/forum/1st-gen...ine-light.html

Agreed. The dealer is the absolutely best place to get an O2 sensor. Although, I have found out that Advance Auto Parts has a Bosch "exact fit" sensor that I have in my downstream and it works up to par of what I expect. They are typically a couple bucks cheaper too.

But like hydra said, if you can, just get it from the dealer to save you a possible world of pain down the road.

I didn't buy a new sensor, the old one is still there. The wires for it are just ripped out of the connector. I'm just trying to figure out which wires on the harness goes to what wires on the sensor. Does anyone know or have a pic of their o2 sensor connector?

if you look at the connector while is plugged in it should be very easy to determine which wire connect to what

i dont know what the wow is for, but based on what you have given us im not sure what you were expecting, you say wires got pulled, and you say pre cat 02 sensor connector, im not even close to sure what you are asking seeing as how if you pulled the wires completely apart (not connecting anymore) that your truck would not run anywheres close correctly once warmed up, saying wow is NOT going to get you anymore help, more details and a better explanation might get you more information.

if you are trying to replace the sensor side of the connector you need to go to the dealer and buy a new sensor as stated very close to the beginning of the thread.

Yeah not really seeing what the wow was for, I would have given about the same answer. It's not like all the wires are the same color. Pardon me but it shouldn't take a masters degree to match up one grey wire to another grey wire and one white wire with a line to another white wire with a line.

Shouldn't be too hard, not sure why you're having so much trouble!!

Let me try to explain this again for those that don't understand English. The sensor side of the connector has no wires in it. As in all that is left in the connector is empty terminals, no wires. Just a connector with empty terminals. As I asked before, I am trying to figure out what wires go to what. Like the tan/white wire goes to what wire for the sensor (white, gray, black,???) As far as the not running right when it warms up, it runs perfectly fine...just throwing a dtc. I will try to post some pics when I get off of work in the morning.
