Default Convert to 2 wd

I have a 2000 Durango that has blown its transfer case wide open while in 2wd. I was wondering if it's possible to remove whats left of the transfer case and replace the drive shaft with one out of a 2wd and call it good. Since we have had it it has been a great vehicle but we don't need the 4wd often enough to really make it a necessity in GA it was a must when we lived in Oregon. It has a 4.7 with a KN air filter otherwise its stock

with a 2wd conversion you would also have to remove both front drive shafts and front differential.. I would side on repair; it would probably cost less and take a lot less time to complete.. The d would also retain some resale value..

It is possible, you have to remove the tail end of your transmission and matching it up with the tail section of a 2wd of the same model transmission. Once you do this then you can use the extended drive line from the donor 2wd vehicle and be done. The easier way is just to find the same T-case out of a junker, fluid change (ATF+4 fluid), and bolt in.
