Default Tire size question

I'm going to replace my Firestone (junk IMHO) tires with Michelin LTX A/T2's next week. Currently I'm running 245/70R16's on stock rims, no lift kit, suspension mods, etc. The Durango is an 03 SLT 4x4 4.7 stock. Is there an advantage / disadvantage on going to a 265/75R16 tire other than it looking a bit more aggressive?

Driving style is combined city / country driving with limited Interstate use. I have been known to run it through a trail in the woods now and then just for fun though!

Also, can the truck be reprogrammed to calibrate the speedometer to the new tire size if I decide to go larger? From what I've read here, the larger tire is just over 31", so clearance shouldn't be an issue.

Anything else I should be looking at before I do this?

Thanks!
Bob

the only way that i know of to calibrate the speedo is at the dealer but im sure there are other ways, keep in mind if you go over 31inch diameter you will 90% have rubbing if you go above 32inch diameter you 99% will have rubbing no real advantage to bigger tires IMO except for the look

Thanks for the info. I'm trying to avoid the dealer if possible, I *really* hate going there unless I have to. I may look into one of the chip programmers anyways. Still on the fence on tire sizes for now.....

He can use a hand held tuner like a Superchips, Hypertech, or SCT to change the speedo to work correctly, as the speedo is controlled via PCM on the Durango.

I just took off a bald set of 265/75-16 off mine and replaced them with 245/75-16 mud grip that measure 30.7 inches and they fit great

@01: LOL! It's great to get the kids started at such a young age. Your son is a very happy-looking guy! Great choice in RC car.
@Bob: I was just gonna say the same thing!
