Default Rear wiper won't turn off!!!

I have a 2001 Durango and for some reason my rear wiper won't turn off. It stays wiping even with the durango off and with the keys out of the ignition. Any ideas? Bad switch maybe? If it were a bad switch, wouldn't the wiper turn off with the keys out of the ignition?

It could be a bad switch and I would open it up from the inside hatch and see if anything looks out of the ordinary. Chances are there's a short somewhere in the wiring.

Until you fix the problem, if you decide it is worth fixing, disconnect the wire harness to the rear wiper motor in the rear hatch.

Nothing looks out of the ordinary in the wiring in the hatch that I can see.

Any other ideas before I end up buying a used climate control? By the way, does anyone have an extra climate control for a 2001 durango with rear controls?

Having eliminated the easiest possible problem in the relay, let's move on.

Once you remove the hatch plastics, you should see that the handle and electronics in there have residue on them from moisture leakage.

Discounting any other shorts, if there was an obvious leak, seal from the inside, R&R the electrical connections and that should take care of it.
