Default 2001 Dodge Durango will not start!!!

I have a 2001 Dodge Durango with 4.7l that will not start even while trying to jump it! Turns over very slow as if the battery was low. Oil is good, cable are free of corrosion, lights are bright and don't dim much while trying to start it. I
replaced the timing chains about 3 months ago and it has been running fine till now. Battery is only a couple of months old. Can someone please help?

Are any of your pulleys seized up? This is typical of a seized A/C compressor. Have you noticed anything funky going on with the truck prior to this?

Yes, that too. I'd take the starter in to advance or autozone to get it checked and make sure it's fine.

After further investigating I found out that my ac compressor did seize up! We have been noticing a strange kind of a burning smell for a couple of weeks. Now what can I do without having to change out the a/c compressor?

You can go to Advance and get a new belt that wont route around the AC compressor....

To bypass the A/C compressor you will notice on the front bar on top of the radiator, there will be a belt routing chart, and all you need it to get a Non A/C belt from your favorite parts store.

Glad I could help!

Went to the parts store and no luck finding a non a/c belt. Ughh.... I guess a/c must have been standard on these vehicles. I checked the compressor and it seems that the bearing is just seized up. Anyone ever replace the bearing? I noticed they do sell the replacement bearings for these.

Typically its the clutch that seizes up on it over time. If you want to over the winter months there's an A/C compressor replacement "plate" available at advance auto parts for $40 and it is basically a pulley on a plate to bypass the compressor.

This is what I did and is real simple to do and you can keep your old belt.

Bypass plate:
