Default 1996 Dodge Ram Van 2500

How everyone is doing, after living paycheck to paycheck: Well finally install the transmission back 32RH 3 speed with 192K on it, Now I believe, I have a Gearshift Linkage/ Cable misadjusted.
I away to put it back in the bracket, does it has to be on neutral or parking; I did remove the cable I was able to move the shifter at the transmission from park to the 1st gear and back did it couple of times.
reconnected and the gear shifter is locked.
Help.
Thank you and GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

Is there a brake/shifter interlock on your van?

Remove the cable from the tranny and see if the shifter will move. If it doesn't...it's a shifter issue, if it does...it's a tranny issue.

Yes, the shifter at the steering column move, but when it's connected is lock up, it does not make any sense. The transmission does not make any sound, as before when I did replaced the converter, the oil pump look good, no leaks,. Could a hydraulic pressure test will diagnose a bad oil pump ?
Thank you.

The oil pump is irrelevant. The 3-speed tranny is all mechanical, you should be able to shift without the engine running. Is it possible the new tranny is just hard to shift, or that you have the linkage adjustment set incorrectly? What if you disconnect the linkage, manually shift the tranny into neutral, then place the shifter in neutral. Does the cable connection line up correctly with the shifter arm on the tranny? If so, without moving the shift arm or the shifter, reconnect the cable to the arm and then see if the shifter moves up on the column. I'd start by going towards low, then back to park just to make sure you're getting the full travel out of the shifter.
