No way! I've always removed positive. Who knew? Looked around, and sure enough, remove neg is the right way. I've checked the voltage on numerous batteries, and have done it the wrong way NUMEROUS times. Guess I have been lucky. Getting a TPS in the morning. Will tell all when I get back to town. Thanks for your time everyone.

Make sure to reset the PCM after swapping out the TPS and make sure its aligned correctly or it will cause you to start at a very high RPM.

Got TPS from Autozone and I am now back home. Disconnected bat. and removed TPS. It has no O ring and no gasket. The new one has both an O ring and gasket. Do I use the O ring and gasket? If yes; gasket flush against TPS then O ring? Or the other way around? And how do I make sure it is aligned correctly. Looking in the void where the TPS was, I see a......kinda thin piece of plastic? I really hope this fixes it. Thanks bunches.

What year do you have. I believe it just uses the gasket and not the O-ring. It states on the instruction papers that came with the TPS to use either one or the other.

I put both. I also looked at the instructions (after installation) and it says the TPS is made for a Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.7 Engine only. It looked exactly the same, fit the same, used same fittings screws. And it works. When on cruse control it no longer does that little.......skip? Idle seems perfect at about 600 rpms. Reset PCM after removing NEGATIVE connection from battery, for the first time ever. No problems right? The TSP will work? Autozone didn't screw me on accident?

Thing is; when I crank her up, she seems kinda weak. Guess I will find out in the morning when I start her up.

Looks like they are all the same numbers:

Auto Zone, Part Number: TPS333

Man your up late. I finally came to the same conclusion, only after I checked at AZ and your right, same number. So I guess all is well. Takes me a little longer to think of these simple things than you guys. I usually get there, eventually. If this works, I must say, you guys have been great. I hope everyone appreciates the help as much as I do.

Give it a couple cold starts, I'll guess your PCM gets used to the new TPS and all will be well.
