Default Dodge`s crappy transmission~s

WOW, i have never seen a more cheaply put together trans than the 46re i have .Everything inside is made of cheap tin, just crap . At least now looking at the performance rebuild i`m getting ,borg&waren good strong thick friction bands, etc .Plus a new TCI trq converter ,that is how DODGE should have built them . We all know dodge`s trans` are a weak part , too bad dodge doesn`t have recall`s on them

Ya,

They didn't build them all the greatest but if you take care of them and keep wear down it helps, but not with a power house of a motor you got......LOL

You have some information on the rebuild kit? Part #'s, links?

I have pulled my 7,000# cargo trailer every day of its long life so far and it's got 124,000 miles on it and have had normal fluid changes and haven't had a problem with it.

Granted it may not be as strong as an Allison transmission, its still no a bad transmission and I have a feeling yours had problems due to the stroker you put on it.

with stock motor i agree if yu are careful with it she`ll last ,.LOL ummmmmm i have had mine serviced a fair bit , always have had filter .fluids changed on regular maintance program. But since new motor and the tranny was the only part of drivetrain i didn`t touch ,,,,she did not like the big trq i threw her way and just wore out faster than normal ,,,,,,i`ll get the part #`s from my tranny guy who`s rebuilding her,,,,,
If yu look in side them dodge did not use quailty good parts .........they wear our a fair bit . i`ve sold a lot of these trans , when i was in the auto recycling industry ,,,, more than ford or chevy, they still are a good trans ,,,

I'd also like the numbers on that kit. Might think of getting this done if its as great as you claim! No pun intended.

My 5.9L is getting laughed at by my 44RE... Everyone told me it wouldn't hold up to the 5.9L like the 46RE.

Over 30k miles now and I pull trailers and stuff with it all the time. Never any issues

I agree , if everything is stock ( i`m guessing) these trans , should last a good long time with proper maintance , I guess when one has over 515ftlbs ,,one does tend to be in it a wee bit more ,,,ok ok a whole lot more lol, i`ve learned my lesson ,,,,one has to build the rest of the drivetrain to match the engine output lol

A 44RE will hold up to the 5.9L as they did install them with it, is the 46RE stronger well ya, but they still aren't bad trans, however they aren't an Allison.

If there were things I wish they would have built a little better the trans and ball joints would be on the list......IMHO
