Default lowbeam toggle

I keep losing my lowbeams. The accessory switch on the steering column has been replaced 4 times. When it happens, i turned on the headlights and nothing, jiggle the accessory switch and usually they will come on.

This is annoying, so i was wondering about rewiring the headlights and putting them on a toggle switch mounted to the dash. Your thoughts are appriciated. Also, can the lowbeam and high beams being separated or are they on the same wire?

+1 on the relay.

No, the switch (with lots of wires) goes into the CTM so there are simply too many wires involved. To better fix your problem, simply find the short and fix it correctly.

Yep, thats the one. Why did they have to place the dimmer there? I'd much rather have it on the floor.

My '86 Ram 150 had it as a button on the floor by the parking brake. It was always fun when someone cut me off to stomp my foot as I'm flashing them.

I think the floor high beam stomp-switch is the single thing I miss the most in modern autos.
