Ok I'm going to keep this short and to the point. I have a power lock problem where all the electric locks don't work except the drivers side door, sort of. If I use either the key fob or the door lock button in the can, only opens the drivers side door.

If its warm out although, everything works fine like nothing happened. I can hear the lock wanting to disengage and unlock the door all around but just doesn't.

This sound like I need all new lock mechanisms all around, or something simple?

This is the first electrical thing gone wrong with it so makes me think the ECM is fine.

 

not sure if you mean ctm or pcm, but there is no ecm on dodge vehicles(just fyi) but it sounds to me more like you have water getting into the lock mechanisms and freezing causing your problems, it is unlikely that ALL of the lock actuators would go bad at the same time and if it were the CTM i dont think that it would be affected by the temperature(i have been wrong before, but this is my feeling)

 

Yeah I meant CTM. That's why I was thinking along the lines of shrp, because its only acting up when its cold out. Today it was warm, everything fine.

 

You could try to pull the master switch out and clean the contacts.

 

+1 Hydra. Statistically unlikely to have 3 of 4 locks all stop at once. The Master switch in the drivers door is the most likely culprit.

PCM=ECM just different generations the same basic part. They are both the control of the EFI system just one can be reflashed the other typically needs a chip. Since most of my cars have been pre OBDII I still catch myself referring to the engine computer as the ECM.

 

yea i know they perform the same functions, but for the sake of consistency, and accuracy, PCM is the correct term for the modules in our trucks

 

PCM is Chrysler, ECM is Ford and Chev, so there is a difference......LOL

 

PCM= programmable control module ECM= electronic control module
Everything OBDII is a pcm that I have come in contact with Ford,GM,Dodge and otherwise.

 

ACTUALLY, PCM stands for Powertrain Control Module and ECM stands for Engine Control Module.....
