Default Tranny issue

Hi guys, new guy to the forum. I recently had a used tranny put in my 2000 Durango. It shift smooth except for the overdrive. It shifts fine into OD but when it downshifts out of OD it's not so smooth. I get this thunk noise and I can feel it when it shifts, any ideas? tranny bad?

Thanks

Engine type? Makes a difference on the advise we give you because trans are different on different setups in 2000.

Did you just swap or actually have any service done to the "new" one on the way in there?

On any swap, or used car purchase... the first thing to do it a full service R&R on the trans right away. No telling what the history was of the donor parts since they are usually junk yard salvaged. And since the vehicle is in the junkyard, it probably wasn't well serviced in the first place.

It's 4.7L 4X4. I got the tranny used and it's actually out of a 00 dakota. AAMCO put it in for me.
