I don't believe Mobil 1 is the reason. If you're running a full synthetic Mobil 1, this isn't your problem. It flows like water even when it's -54 out. Now if you had this problem and you said you were running a low grade Dino oil, then maybe but Mobil 1 is very consistent.

 

Unless he has an issue with leakage or burning and st least a one time a full syn would make the problem worse. Newer syn may be more like dino juice in that respect now but he really need to check the oil before we jump to any other conclusions.

 

Just to update the thread and let everyone know what happened--- I took it to go get my oil changed, which as I said before is the mobile one synthetic (from what I've read it's good to put in the older/high mileage cars). Anyways, they just changed the oil and it stopped happening. I'm assuming since my durango is a 98 with 160k miles on it, it has a gradual/slow leak and when I changed the oil the oil pressure went back to normal.

I definitely appreciate everyone's willingness to help me with my problem though, thanks.

 

Mine oil pressure bottom out when i stopped and then recover. when i checked my oil it wasn't registering on the dipstick, i changed the oil and hasn't done it since. my guess would be that the oil sloshing around affected the pressure.

 

I'll agree with that bow. Most likely it liked having the right amount of fresh new oil and it was just a small issue.
