Also, it could be a blown Plenum gasket. Open the TB blades and look straight down into the intake. If there's oil or it looks wet/moist, there's your problem. Ticking under acceleration is a sign of a blown Plenum.

If its dry and rusty looking, you're fine but can't be looking moist.

He stated that installed a Hughes kit... I assumed he was talking about the plenum kit

Well concerting you are runnin 1.7 rockers and bored TB, I would lean to the pre-02 sensor or a TPS issue or finally a fuel pump.

The ticking could be retarted timing, and lack of power the same as well. So that leads me to wonder it sounds like pre or after combustion problems.

Update, so last night I decided to put the full baffle in the driver side valve cover and also do pcv, plugs, wires, new cap and rotor. Truck runs so much stronger now. I suspected it was the Taylor wires arcing and I may have been right. I opted for the mopar plugs and let me just say they are nice ! Perfect length and fit. Put about 60 miles so for and symptoms seem to have diminished. Shifts better, idles like a 1000.00 hooker and feels like it's got power back. Instead of down shifting to pass it just speeds up now. Ill report back if anything goes back to where it was. Still thinking of going with a high flow cat.

Glad it's worked out for you. But... IMHO, you don't need a high flow cat. The later Ds have a very good cat as OEM already. But since you have a 5.9, you can install headers to max your flowalong with the cat. Then a new muffler like flowmaster 50 series SUV type. But then if you do that, you have to increase breathing so install a K&N system up front. Increased airflow = increase in power, torgue and mpg.

I think you may be on to something. After the tune it ran well but its starting to get back to it's old habits. I had the battery disconnected while doing the tune so the computer was reset. It feels exactly like the timing is off but I thought the timing was done via computer ? It's not throwing codes or any check engine lights but that doesn't mean something not right. How would I go about tracing the problem ? Is this a Dodge thing or can my normal mechanic figure this out ? Would a fuel sync help ? Read a bit about that but I'm not 100% on how it's done.

I would love to do headers but I would only do it for the long tubes but I have yet to hear of anyone not having a bastard time the the LT and 4X4. They're also $$ and hard to come by.

I should have setup my profile with whats been done to the truck so far.

K&N FIPK, Magnaflow SS catback, HS 1.7, been on and off with the ported TB. Was having an annoying issue with the gas peddle. There was the tiniest sticking problem when I first press the gas so it had to go. As for looks, just Mopar Valve Covers.

I had this issue of the gas pedal sticking after upgrading the TB on my 5.9 D. It turns out the transmission kickback cable broke the plastic clip on the end of it. The kickback cable (unbeknown to my knowledge at the time) provided the resistance in the gas pedal. $5 for JB Weld and three hours of sitting time fixed that problem and it hasn't had an issue in 6 months.

Oh most likely they would be able to diagnose the problem. Keep us posted on what's going on and what the dealer says because they might try and feed you a line of bull.

It happened to me way back when and they told me it was something that didn't even have anything to do with my problem.
