Default Winch Bumper

Hey Durango Peeps,

Where can I get a nice heavy duty winch bumper for my 01 Durango. I'd like to stay under 2g's.

Thanks. TWray

I like that look. Pretty good pricing as well.

I checked out this site tacticalarmorgroup.com and it is the same as www.kenmtnac.com.
Not sure why they now have two sites, maybe they always did and I just used www.kenmtnac.com?
I have both the front and rear on my rig (https://dodgeforum.com/forum/1st-gen...urango-21.html) and am mostly happy but just beware.

The front I ordered first and it took about 3 months and some work with the grinder to get it to fit. Also my choice of winch wouldn't fit without welding a plate for the winch to fit at a slight angle so I could still close the hood!.

The rear multicarrier took about 6 months to arrive and this was after it being promised in two months. Many phone calls and emails went unanswered. It was a pain in the *** getting it to fit. I needed to cut some small pieces off to get it moved close enough for a proper fit and then welded end caps onto the inside of the fender well. ( My buddy is a great welder so he's the one that did all of this) I ordered it with a jack carrier and with the spare tire on, it prevented the jack from fitting! It was a joke how poorly this was thought out. I cut off the top of the tire holder and raised it so the jack would fit. This moved the tire up about 4" or so and also closer to the rear window which I like. There's no stop on the swing out of the tire holder so we welded one on so now when you swing open the tire to raise the hatch the tire doesn't hit a car parked next to you or your own fender. I also welded a old style gas can strap onto the can holder so I could lock the can in place. The can holder might be re-thought out at a later date but works fine for know.

Basically I feel the price is just ok for these bumpers. I must say the welding quality is fair at best. If you google kennesaw mountain accessories you'll find many unhappy customers, but if you don't want to make your own and don't mind grinding and welding for a proper fit, they're not bad. Also I get complements on my rig now all the time. sorry about the long post but just know that you might be in for a long wait if you order from them.

im almost positive the tacticalarmorgroup site is new. because i know a few months ago everything was just on the kenmtnac.com but now when you go on that one and click on different links you get rerouted to the new one

Cool

I also noticed the similarities of both the above web sights mentioned. So I talked to a rep of the Tactical group. He said they are not the same co. as Kennesaw. So I dont know if one split off of the other, or if the newer Tactical co. is the new face to the old Kennesaw co. or what. He didnt elaborate anymore, so I left it at that.

You cant beat the pricing though. I can handle a little wait time and some minor mods....Seems thats the run of the mill any more.

The TAG guy give me a run down on costs as described on there sight...For my 01 Durango...base front bumpers are prefab minus the options and rear bumpers are fabricated per order. Shipping from N.Ga to SW.VA runs $125 to a business, $35 more to a residence....Thats for a base frt bumper plus receiver, "D" brackets, and light package less all guards.

I ordered what I described in the shipping cost. We'll see how it goes. I'll try to keep ya's up to date, maybe with some pics.

Thanks for all the info Ramheads , TWray

A "little" wait time? Sure.

6 months of wait time as has been described? Um, no. Not if I'm paying up front. I figure 2 or 3 weeks is plenty of time to have it to my doorstep if they already have my money in their pocket, even if there are a few customizations to be made.

Any other good options out there?

TWray,

So you were told they aren't the same company? I guess they're not the exact same since they apparently changed their name. The photos of the bumpers that were on the kennesaw site I bought mine from are THE EXACT SAME PHOTOS! They also have the same phone numbers and prices.
I found many blog posts of some very very unhappy people that bought from kennesaw in the past. I'm not saying don't buy from them, I did and after a lot of extra work, I'm finally happy with my purchase. Just know that mine took a loooong time to arrive and a ton of extra work to get them to fit the way they should have in the first place. (The rear bumper was not minor changes as far as I'm concerned).
As I think back I remember I was promised I would have mine well before Memorial day so I could use it on a trip I had planned. As it turned out I didn't get it until AFTER Labor day!

I'm looking to get a used Dakota to go with my Durango and I'll be making my own bumpers for it. It's too bad because if I had been remotely shown any customer service by these guys I would have been a return customer. Zero chance of that now.

Anyway, good luck, I hope it goes better for you than it did for me.
