99 ram 46re into 01 durango rt
I purchased a 46 re from a guy who told me it would bolt right up, seemed like all was good it all looked the same until i got the old transmission out, looked over and saw the difference in neutral safety switches. Is there anything i can do? Everything else at first glance looks like its a perfect fit, except the neutral safety switch.
It is going to take a bit of work and a bunch of drawing up what you're going to do because the '99 Ram had the 3 wire NSS where as your '01 Durango more than likely has the PRNDL "black box" style where it tells the PCM which gear its in.
Its going to take a bunch of fab getting that one to work out and also the holes are different between the two years. Everything else should match up however and torque convertors should be the same.

One other thing to consider is the fact that they have different cases, the ram tranny has larger bosses and they interfere with the tranny lines. In most cases you have to reroute the lines, also it is possible to make the 99 tranny work, but the hole has to be machined out to the larger size of the switch, maybe contact martin saine, he could give you the details quickly for the hole size and the best possible way to do it. He usually makes a appearance on dak/dur daily, I know there is a thread or 2 on there about this and in detail. It is under the tranny section.
