Default Something weird with tranny

Hey guys I am new to the site and I have looked around but could nit find a answer to my question I checked the fluid in 1999 durango and it looked and smelt burnt now I know that plus 4 can have a diffrent color and smell and be fine but it was bad so I changed fluid and filter and I am still having the same problem the problem is is that once you drive for a while and the tranny warms up good and you come to a stop once you go to mive again its very sluggish there are no noisies or hard shifting and once you get going its fine any advice would be great thanks guys

Are you certain it's related to your transmission? Do your RPMs increase during this sluggish time? Probable need more details.
When was the last time you cleaned the TB, changed plugs, wires, cap/rotor, air filter...?

Did you try moving the gear selector to "1" to make sure its in the lowest gear? Also pay attention to the sounds and RPM to see if it's upshifting when you drive from a dead stop (it should upshift around 15 mph). When you replaced the fluid, you did a replacement and not just a flush, correct?

Edit: Just re-read it and just noticed again you did a fluid/filter change so disregard my last question.

Welcome to DF
When you replace the filter, did you also adjust the front and rear bands? You could also have a sticking governor sensor, and starting in 2nd or 3rd gear like whitewidow00 had said.

+1 Widow

Ensure that you are actually in 1st gear and not stuck in 2nd or 3rd.

Why yes there is! But first which engine do you have because there's 2 transmissions...

If you have a 5.2L:

If you have a 5.9L:
