honestly it differs based on which set up you are going with, you cant decide how to make your mounts without knowing which fan you are putting in, think about it, you need to konw where all the mount points are on the fan, and how the will sit in relation to the points on the truck

Yeah I was leaning more towards the Taurus fan but I dont know if it matters which year I use it from.

Well for starters Im just going to try to remove the fan again tomorrow with a diffrent tactic, and try not to tear up my knuckles. It's cool out now so it shouldnt be an issue yet without it. I'll still be watching my temp gauge like a hawk. And an old SHO Taurus fan runs for like 130.

Pick n pull. $30 for a fan from a Ford or Mercury with a 3.8L engine in it. That's what I did. I run at 200* in the summer with a 195* t-stat in my D. During the rest of the year it is at 195*. If you live somewhere that gets much higher than 100* in the summer you may want to rethink the swap or if you tow. I don't tow at all so no probs there for me. I'd like to find someone to fab up an aluminum fan shroud for cheap to improve the cooling capacity of the fan. There are definite benefits to this upgrade. I gained quite a bit of power and 1 mpg.

i don't want to do it for MPG increase, just throttle response and a better sounding engine. And let me tell you, it sounds like a beast. Now all i need is a cat-back system to go with it and DAYUM!
