Truck will not engage 4WD Hi or Low. Switch seems dead. Assuming that AWD is working (had a friend check if the front wheels were driving in sand, which they were) Truck slides around a bit in the snow. Back end gets loose easily. If the LED on the Xsfer switch don't light-up to show what mode it's in, is the switch faulty? Is there a fuse somewhere that I can check?

Truck is a 2001 AWD with the 4.7L

Sounds like the selection switch on the T-case.

the awd was only offered with the 4.7 in canada for that model year iirc

Na, just saying that in Canada they did some strange builds like an AWD with a 4.7L motor. They also have many other criteria like driving lights and a few others. This throws a lot of people off when they are trying to diagnose problems.
