Default 1999 Durango Transmission Shifting issue

Something happened today why driving home with my wife and little daughter that puzzled me. While getting on the highway, my 1999 durango seems to be stucked in 3rd gear and will not shift upward. My odometer was working (rpm was very high) and there wasn't any check engine light. I tried to turn on/off the O/D switch and that didn't help. I had to pull over to a complete stopped and placed it in park. Then got back on the highway and the upwasd shifting issue was gone. Any ideas?

Sounds like it just got stuck and needed slapped around to get it unstuck. How long has it been since its last transmission fluid replacement. Old/Burnt ATF or not enough fluid can cause sluggish shifting problems.

I would do a filter, fluid, and band adjustment.
