rear end gearing
Only reason i did it was i got tired of smashing it everytime i would go on the trail or would back into a snow bank. I idea accually came about when i had the plug on my silverado, just transfered the idea to the rango when i bought it.
Yep, my old Ram I got rid of had that setup where it was near the license plate. When you get a chance try to snap a picture of it, I'd like to see what it actually looks like done and all.
Will do after all the bitter cold and hurricane like downpours go away...... im accually now trying to come up with a way to put the trailer brack in the dash somehow.

I did not see where you indicate if your D is 4x4 or 4x2? At any rate, the labor for a gear swap is the same, and the 4.10 is the better choice of the 2.
If you have 4 wheel drive, your costs then are X2. Expect to pay $800-1100 for a RWD swap, and $1800-$2000 for a 4wd swap.
Going from the factory 3.55 to the 4.10 will really wake up the acceleration, and it will pull a given load much easier as the engine will reach its power band much sooner.
You may even see a small increase in your around town economy since you won't have to do much more than breath on the gas pedal to get it moving.

I went from 3.55:1 gears to 4.56:1 gears and lost NO mpg in the city. That's right, EXACTLY the same as before. And want to talk about waking it up? WOW!
I lost only 1 mpg on the highway and have taken several trips to prove this.
The towing mpg goes up too but more importantly, the ease of which it accelerates while towing is MUCH better.
I know about towing heavy stuff:

Yeah the only reason I suggested is he isn't doing all towing and makes a commute to work on the highway and didn't want to lose mpg on that but was looking to increase power when towing.
To the OP, I believe it's your choice but the 3.92 and 4.10 are about equal when it comes to power just slightly more power/mpg loss. If it's more power you want over mpg, choose the 4.10. If you really are worried about mpg while towing but still worried about mpg on your commute, go with the 3.92.
With gearing really it's a give and take when it comes to the time you're not towing. LOL

n8ech it is a 4x2 my father is ase certified and i have 1/2 a year of experience before i can get certified so we would do the swap we just changed the pinion seal on a 2003 ram 3500 with the trusty cummins in it so we can handle it and yea gr8scott72 4.56s would be nice but i drive all hwy and alot of it a day that is a little too tall for my blood, if it was my secondary vehicle id do it in a heartbeat though i just needed some advice from you since you have it on its pros and cons
It's only 1 mpg less!

If you have 31" tires then I would go to 3.92 if it's your daily driver and tow, 4.10's if you drive it some and tow more, and 4.56 if all you do is tow.
