It's also the box that makes the amazing chysler chime sound haha, I hacked mine up so the voltage difference to the speaker trips a transistor that will power up a recordable greeting card that makes the sound of a cow mooing, there's also a switch that connects a relay to that transistor to sound the horn instead of the chime. They always make for good pranks.

Anyways getting back on topic, get that CTM replaced and all your troubles should be solved. $138 is pretty low getting it from the dealer, I thought they wanted an arm and a leg, and a sample of your blood, your first born, and like $400 for a part like that. But do let us know how it works out for you.

Yep. Like it or not a lot of electronics are becoming modular and control more than one item. Power door locks go...so do your interior lights etc...

FYI: You mentioned a window popped out. I may be wrong but that doesnt sound electrical. That sounds like it may have come off track either the main track that keeps the window up and down or possibly the little tab that keeps the window in the track fore and aft. Possibly a regulator, if it is that then you will know it. A big loud snap then when you go to work the window and nothing if you can get the window up then keep it that way. It usually requires removing the door panel to replace.

incorrect, in trucks w/t the new interior (01-03) the ctm is in the drivers side kick panel, near the parking break pedal

Ah, that's right it's a 2001. That link sharps provided will certainly help you out replacing it if you do plan on doing it yourself.

Yes it is just pull back the tabs that keep the glove box in it's position and let it fall down and it's obvious where it is.

Default Issue with CTM or better yet BCM -UPDATE

Hi Guys (Shrpshtr, Evon T., WhiteWidow, Magic84 & Hydrashocker)!!
Just wanted to thank you so much for your advice. You were all correct. I took my Durango to a different dealer and had them run a diagnostic, and boom!! They said the BCM (Body Control Module) is dead!! They said everything comes out to $585 plus tax (part, installation, programming, and labor). I plan to take it to a mechanic my Boss suggested who is very known at my job. It might not be appropriate to mention what I'll be doing with the 1st dealer, etc. I'll leave that to your imagination. The good thing is that if it weren't for you guys advising me of the REAL problem, today I'd probably be stuck paying more or just garaging the car. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. It feels good not to be confused or stressed out with out a plan. I now know exactly what I need to do, again, thanks to you. EXTREMELY grateful, Megan. PS: As an FYI: The CTM is the same as BCM, except that the CTM controls more things and they're found in newer cars and trucks, not in my 2001 Durango, per the dealer I went to.
