Default Help!! P0031 and P0037

Hello,

I am getting a P0031 and P0037 after having the O2 sensers replaced and I cant seem to find the problem. I am trying to keep from going to the dealer and spending hundreds of dollars, after spending money for someone to do the O2 sensers.

Make sure the wires are plugged in correctly because it can be caused due to a short in the wires or an open circuit. Next check for 12 volts at the heater circuits and then check for open ground somewhere.

Just my .02 but it sounds like someone didn't complete their job when you paid them to do the O2 sensors.

Where would the heater circuits be located? The dealer that replaced the O2 sensers said that it could be the evap systems but that doesnt sound right

also check to see if your power steering switch is leaking, this shares a section of wire loom w/t he O2 sensor wires and can cause the connectors to short

The heater circuit wires are two of the 4 wires. Also like shrp said check by the P/S switch. This is one of those weird problems no one can figure out when it was right there the whole time. I spent weeks with this problem trying to figure it out an it was the P/S pressure switch.

This is found behind the power steering pump near re battery area.

P0031 HO2S Heater Ctrl Circ Low Bank1 Sens1
P0037 HO2S Heater Ctrl Circ Low Bank1 Sens2

Being it the same side and both replaced with dealership 02's I would assume it would be a power steering fluid issue or a bad CAT.

Thanks for all the help. Checked the wires and P/S and all looks good. Think its going to be the cat and we plan on getting rid of the truck in about a year and dont want to put too much money into it. it has 129,000 miles 4x4. we will sell it for about 3k when we are ready

Sorry to have you leave as a Durango owner. At least you're going to be selling it for a fair price, I hate these people selling their Durango's with 180,000 miles on them for $6,500.

We are going to keep it for the rest of this year for the time being. We are moving to a new house soon and I am going to use it to pull the trailer. I will just drive it with the check engine light on and sell it for a fair price.

That's what I did when I had similar problems with mine before I four the fix. Generally when it comes to an O2 sensor issue, it won't really hurt anything to drive it for the time being. When it starts backfiring is when you have an issue.
