Default knocking and oil presseure drops after warming up

I have a 99 Durango 5.2 4WD. After the motor gets hot oil pressure drops and starts knocking. I've heard it could be the oil pump or main bearings? Any advice? Thanks

And how much does the pressure drop? The pressure is supposed to drop when it gets warmed up but supposed to stay within the lines at all times.

Also, yeah like hydra asked, what weight oil is in it? I had a customer one time that brought in their Durango that they took to some Mom n' Pop store to change their oil and they put 15w-40 in it (a.k.a. Diesel oil) and it was knockin' pretty hard.

I'd get that valve cover gasket replaced ASAP!

got your noise. yes its an 1999 but surly its an 2000 model. kinda new on dogde. but can an valve cover leak can cause the oil pressure to misfuntion.

Yes it most certainly can. Put your hand over your mouth and try to breath in, now create a small opening between your fingers and take a deep breath. Notice the pressure difference..?

Oh and for the record you go by model year and not production year. Mine too was manufactured in '99 but a 2000 model.

Replace the oil filter and change the oil. Could be a plugged oil filter.
